A popular High Wycombe restaurant that opened at the end of 2020 and had become a firm favourite among locals has gone up for rent - after closing "until further notice" last month.

Cinquieme, an independent bar and restaurant, opened up in December 2020 at the former Frankie and Benny's restaurant in the Eden Shopping Centre.

Close to the cinema and Hollywood Bowl, the venue was transformed into a vibrant cocktail bar and eatery serving European food and providing regular live music events - something appreciated by locals who said the area was crying out for more independent restaurants.

It had garnered rave reviews from visitors - but it was announced in June that the restaurant would be closing "until further notice" because of "circumstances out of our control", which left regulars upset.

The notice was posted on their Facebook page, which has not been updated since June 11, while their website also displays the same message.

Their Instagram page was last updated on May 25 and no one answered the phone when a reporter called their number.

The restaurant has so far not reopened - and it is now being advertised to let via commercial property consultants Chandler Garvey

"Previously Cinquieme, the unit is a fully fitted restaurant and features an additional mezzanine providing extra seating space," the listing reads.

Chandler Garvey says new leases are available "on terms to be agreed".

The rent is £50,000 a year, with £46,336 rates payable.

It is not clear whether the unit will remain as Cinquieme when the lease is taken over.

We have contacted Eden Shopping Centre for clarification on the situation.

The restaurant has 4.5 out of 5 from 225 Google reviews, with visitors praising the "absolutely amazing" burgers and "really lovely" staff.

One person described it as the "best spot in High Wycombe for literally every occasion".
