A person has been taken to hospital and four cats are missing after a fire at a cattery yesterday.

Fire broke out at the Buckland Cattery, located in Buckland, near Aylesbury, yesterday at around 2pm.

Firefighters from Aylesbury, Buckingham and High Wycombe were dispatched to the scene, where an outbuilding was engulfed by flames.

The fire spread to two other outbuildings, two sheds, trees and a hedgerow.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue confirmed that one person was taken to hospital and that 12 cats were removed from an outbuilding before crews arrived on the scene.

According to the fire service, four cats remain unaccounted for.

Three hose reel jets were needed to get the blaze under control, as well as a thermal imaging camera and breathing apparatus.

At least one crew remained on the scene late into the evening to dampen the remains of the fire and prevent the fire from reigniting.

The Buckland Cattery, located in Bees Cottage, is a boarding home which looks after cats when their owners are away.
