A High Wycombe man who had cocaine on him nearly crashed into a shop and a parked car in a bid to avoid police.

Aqib Jawaid, from Deeds Close, was spotted by police on Green Street and then nearly crashed into another car and a shop as he tried to get away from them on July 20.

He had no driving license and no insurance at the time, and when police caught up with the 24-year-old, they found he had crack cocaine and a key for a second vehicle.

Inside that second vehicle was a quantity of heroin.

Jawaid was arrested the same day and charged the next day.

In a hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court on July 22, he pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs – namely crack cocaine and heroin, and one count each of dangerous driving, driving without a license and driving whilst uninsured.

He's been held in custody so he can be sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court.

Investigating officer, PC Ben Pearmain, of the Stronghold Team based at High Wycombe police station, said: “Aqib Jawaid was found with a quantity of drugs on him, and his driving appeared he was trying to avoid police.

“He has pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and this is due to the hard work and dedication of the Stronghold team who are committed to stamping out this type of activity within the Thames Valley area.
