Disgusting racist and xenophobic graffiti and vandalism has blighted parts of a village, leaving the parish council furious.

Vandals have left graffiti tags across play equipment in The Spinney in Hazlemere, as well as in the surrounding Cedar Park estate, prompting a report to the police.

Hazlemere Parish Council said some of the spray painted graffiti featured "racist and xenophobic hate symbols", adding: "There is no place for this in our lovely community".

The graffiti was reported to Thames Valley Police last week and the council's warden spent hours removing the paint - only for it to keep returning.

More graffiti appeared on the play equipment in The Spinney earlier this week, July 18, leaving council staff frustrated.

A member of the public also reported that new graffiti had also appeared along the footpath from Tom's Turn to Barn Lane.

After the racist and offensive graffiti appeared last week, the parish council said: "The Parish Council are disgusted and saddened to see vandalism across The Spinney play area and in the surrounding areas of Cedar Park estate.

"The tags used include racist and xenophobic hate symbols. There is no place for this in our lovely community.

"The Parish Council warden has spent hours (and countless days) removing the paint but the vandalism continues.

Bucks Free Press:

"Thank you to members of the public for reporting it and helping with the case we have reported to Thames Valley Police.

"Previously, due to insufficient evidence they have been unable to support Hazlemere community but we hope to continue gathering evidence.

"We now also have CCTV footage which we can share with the police. If you are witness to this behaviour please do not approach this group however please do report it via 101 or online."

Bucks Free Press:

They added on July 18 that Thames Valley Police would be reviewing the CCTV to "hopefully bring this vandalism to a close".

The parish council warden will not be clearing the new graffiti away yet so the police can see the edtent of the vandalism and also because "as fast as he is clearing it away, so is new graffiti being left".

They reminded residents: "Just a friendly reminder, please do not approach the group/person if you see them in action but please do get any photo/video evidence which can be used to help the police further."
