Police were forced to take action when an out-of-control house party spilled onto the streets of a Bucks town, leading to "scary" scenes.

Officers were called to Oakridge Park in Milton Keynes in the early hours of Sunday morning after around 60 people who had been at a nearby house party started acting antisocially out on the street.

The party-goers were committing acts of anti-social behaviour, harassing residents and causing distress among those who lived nearby.

A large police response was sent to the area to disrupt the bad behaviour. Officers were granted additional powers allowing them to order people to leave the area immediately if they were suspected of acting antisocially.

Although the majority complied and moved on eventually, those who failed to follow the order were removed from the area by officers.

The party-goers who had to be removed had their details taken by the police.

On social media, nearby residents thanked the police for de-escalating the "scary" situation.

One commenter said: "This was pretty scary. Not what I expected to get woken up and see outside my house when we normally live in such a lovely area.

"Well done for getting rid of everybody."

Another added: "Thank you, your presence reassured my children who were frightened. Our street is very quiet usually."

In a post on social media, Thames Valley Police thanked the nearby residents for their cooperation and patience while they dealt with the incident.
