POLICE are investigating an incident involving a 'bogus' council noise notice sent to neighbours near a popular Chesham pub.

The Jolly Sportsman Pub on Chesham’s Eskdale Avenue was embroiled in a bizarre noise complaint drama following an event at the pub on July 16.

Those living nearby the pub reported receiving a letter with Buckinghamshire Council’s logo delivered through mailboxes asking for views around potential noise nuisance, but Bucks Council quickly confirmed the letter to be fraudulent.

Bucks Council cabinet member for homelessness and regulatory services Mark Winn said: “Buckinghamshire Council has been made aware of a flyer being delivered to a number of households in the Chesham area, purporting to be an official document from the council.

“This is not the case, the flyer has been created fraudulently and we are currently investigating.

“Fraudulent activity of any kind is a very serious matter and could result in legal action. We would ask anyone who has information regarding this matter to email: environmentalhealth@buckinghamshire.gov.uk.”

Since the 'fake' letter was reported, Thames Valley Police confirmed it has also been flagged to the force.
