'Suspicious' people have been reported in Bucks after a group of women and children reportedly tried to pickpocket a dog walker.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward following the incident that took place in Stantonbury on Monday 25 July.

Officers received a report from a member of the public that they were targeted by pickpockets at around 2pm.

According to the victim, she was walking her dog when she was approached by two women and two children. One of the women and both of the children started "making a fuss" of the victim's dog.

While this was happening, the other woman attempted to search through the victim's handbag. Luckily, the victim noticed what was going on and challenged the group before anything was taken.

In a post on social media, TVP Milton Keynes warned the public to be vigilant and watch out for "suspicious people" in the area.

It said: "Pickpockets often work together to distract their victims, and they are so light-handed and quick that victims often don't realise what happened until much later.

"We have not received any other similar reports to this, but we feel it is certainly something to be aware of.

"Please be cautious when out and about, and be mindful of strangers who may be trying to distract you. Wherever you might keep any valuables you carry, make sure they're zipped up to make it less of an opportunity.
