Police have threatened £100 fines for people caught barecueing and drinking alcohol in a Buckinghamshire park.

A warning has been issued for users of Olney Recreation Ground after police received multiple reports of anti-social behaviour over the weekend.

The green space is covered by a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) banning the consumption alcohol and use of barbecues at the site.

Despite that, police received reports of antisocial behaviour at the park including discarded nitrous oxide canisters, smashed glass and litter, as well as barbecue use and alcohol consumption.

In a post online, TVP Milton Keynes issued a warning to park users about antisocial behaviour.

It said: "Anyone found to be breaching the PSPO will be required to extinguish their barbecue and dispose of alcohol, officers can confiscate the alcohol and issue £100 fines should these requirements not be adhered to.

"Olney REC is a beautiful public facility and we would like it to be enjoyed by all however this must be done lawfully, respectfully and safely.

"The fields are particularly dry at the moment following the recent hot spell, with increased risk of field fires, the use of barbecues only adds to this risk.

"Please don't prevent others from enjoying this facility or increase demand on our emergency services by reckless and inconsiderate behaviour."
