A busy A-road that melted in the extreme temperatures the country suffered last week is safe once again after it was resurfaced.

Part of the A4010 Bradenham Road, which runs from West Wycombe's pedestal roundabout all the way up through Saunderton and into Princes Risborough, could not withstand the incredibly high temperatures last week, and melted.

The road was branded "dangerous" and drivers were urged to either avoid the road completely or drive much slower until a proper fix could be carried out.

While Transport for Bucks (TfB) gritter lorries were sent to "dust" the road regularly with stone in a bid to soak up the melted tar, a full resurfacing was needed.

That was initially scheduled for overnight on Thursday, July 21, but the work had to be put back until Monday, July 25, because the job was bigger than first thought.

Finally, the road has been resurfaced and is safe once again.

Sharing photos of the new smooth surface, TfB said: "The surface repair works to the melted section of A4010 Bradenham Road were undertaken on Monday night as planned.

"This work was successfully planned in very short time and came together with the support from several of our teams and Eurovia, our supply chain partners."

They added: "We will continue to monitor other sections of the road and carry out any further necessary works if required.

"Thanks to all our residents who avoided the road where possible and followed the diversion route - helping to keep our crews safe."
