A shocking video shows how quickly a fire managed to spread through a field yesterday amid ongoing hot temperatures and dry weather.

The fire broke out in a field in Latimer on Thursday morning and quickly spread, decimating an area measuring 400 metres by 600 metres.

Fire crews kept checking throughout the night to make sure the field was completely cool after dousing the flames and bringing it under control.

It has prompted a warning not to use disposable barbecues or light bonfires amid continued dry weather.

Now, a video courtesy of local Paul Lofty shows exactly how quickly fire can spread in a dry field.

He said it was "alarming" how fast the flames were moving across the field, fanned by the wind.

Bucks Fire and Rescue said it is believed a garden bonfire started the field fire, with The Chiltern Society saying it managed to "jump" a garden fence into the field.

Fortunately no one was injured.
