A man who skipped a £10 train fare has been ordered to pay over £1,500 in fines and compensation.
David Smith, 56, of Hill Farm Lane in Chalfont St Giles, was left with a total bill of £1,643.70 after he failed to pay for a £10.70 train ticket when he travelled from Gerrards Cross to London Marylebone on March 1.
On the same day, Smith failed to enter the London station through the ticket barriers in the proper way - committing his second offence.

At a hearing at Wycombe Magistrates' Court on July 13, Smith entered guilty pleas for charges of travelling on a railway without paying a fare and entering or exiting a station without passing through the barriers in the correct manner.
