Former Wycombe Wanderers manager Tony Adams will take part in this year’s edition of Strictly Come Dancing.

The 55-year-old, who was in charge of the Chairboys between November 2003 and November 2004, was the 11th name to be confirmed for this autumn’s spectacle, which will be the competition’s 20th anniversary.

Adams, who spent the entirety of his playing career at Arsenal, only won 12 of his 53 games as the club’s manager as the Chairboys suffered relegation into the fourth tier under his stewardship in May 2004, where they finished bottom of the old Second Division (League One), with 37 points - 14 points off safety.

This ended a 10-year spell in England’s third tier for the Adams Park club.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: “To say I’m excited is an understatement - the lure of the sequins and the call of the salsa has me swapping my battered old football boots for a set of Strictly soft shoes.

“Am absolutely thrilled to be giving it my all on this year’s 20th anniversary of Strictly Come Dancing.

“I can’t wait to meet my partner - god help her - and start the dancing.”

Following his spell with Wycombe, Adams managed Portsmouth in the Premier League, Gabala in Azerbaijan and Granada in Spain.
