A hosepipe ban is looming and residents have been left without water, like the rest of the country, Buckinghamshire is needing a bit of rain.

This week, the county has seen temperatures reach highs of 32 degrees as we're in the midst of a second heatwave.

Already, many are reporting being unable to sleep due to the warm temperatures while dog owners are being urged to avoid walking their pets at midday.

However, it looks like the hot spell could end with showers and thunderstorms.

The Met Office has updated its long-range forecast for the upcoming week - and conditions are likely to be quite different.

The forecast warns that heavier showers or thunderstorms will hit the UK between next Sunday and Tuesday.

So far, an exact time and date thunderstorms will hit has not been provided by the Met Office.

But the weather forecasters have said: "Showers will spread from the west and south next week, sometimes heavy and thundery, though drier periods with sunny spells are still likely between them.

"At the same time, temperatures will gradually decrease to closer to normal for August. Later in the period, the more changeable weather will prevail with a risk of heavy showers or thunderstorms continuing, but clear and dry spells in between too. Returning to warm or very warm towards the end of the period for much of England and Wales, perhaps becoming locally hot in parts of the south and southeast."
