A drink driver who injured her passenger after crashing into a lamp post has apologised in court.

Vicky Cundy, aged 23, of Rushmere Lane in Orchard Leigh, pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving at Wycombe Magistrates' Court today (Tuesday).

The court heard how on July 30, Cundy was driving along Moor Road in Chesham at around 2.45am when she lost control and crashed into a lamppost.

A passenger riding in the back seat suffered bruising to their ribs, neck and face in the collision.

The prosecutor told the court that police arrived on the scene shortly after the crash. Cundy failed a breath test at the side of the road, blowing a reading of 56 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

Cundy admitted to police that she was the driver, but was not able to recall how the crash happened.

The prosecutor told the court that the Audi driver had a previous record of good character.

Pleading guilty to a charge of drink driving, Cundy stood up in court to apologise for what she had done.

She said: "I can't say anything other than I am sorry and I know how dangerous it was.

"I didn't think I had that much to drink.

"I don't have anything else to say other than I am sorry."

After hearing the evidence, the three magistrates agreed to ban Cundy from driving for 15 months.

She was also ordered to pay a £120 fine and £132 in costs.
