A drug user who threatened his neighbour with an improvised flamethrower is due to be sentenced.

Charlie Pain, 25, of Cyclamen Place, Aylesbury, stood outside his neighbour's home with a can of deodorant and a cigarette lighter while threatening to "burn your f***ing face off."

At a hearing at Wycombe Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, Pain pleaded guilty to a charge of using abusive words or behaviour to cause harassment and a charge of cannabis possession.

Outlining how the offending took place on July 30, the prosecutor in the case said: "Police were called to reports Mr Pain was in the street with a can of deodorant and a lighter, he said 'I'm going to burn your f***ing face off.

"He used the lighter to create flames.

"He walked past the front of the house and said 'I am going to stab you in the eyes you four-eyed p***k.'"

The court heard that the officers who arrested Pain discovered he had two small bags of cannabis.

In mitigation, Pain's legal counsel told the court that her client struggles with mental health issues.

She said: "Mr Pain suffers from depression and anxiety, and the anxiety has been worsened by his use of cannabis and cocaine.

"He tells me he is extremely paranoid and would shout out things that weren't aimed at anyone, so the threats that he made were not necessarily made at his neighbours, but they were distressing and he understands why they would be distressed.

"He regrets this and since his arrest, he has made no contact with his neighbours."

Following mitigation, Pain's counsel asked for an adjournment so that a pre-sentence report could be prepared for the magistrates.

The justices agreed to postpone proceedings until September 16 to allow time for a report to be prepared.

Pain was granted conditional bail until the next hearing.
