ENVIRONMENT campaigner not paying Council Tax.

Yet another educated person who doesn’t understand the realities of energy.

We will still be using gas to run our power stations for the next 50-100 years, there is no other solution except a massive nuclear programme, 30-50 new nuclear power stations.

It’s simple - when the wind doesn’t blow and its dark there is no power. There will never be a battery system big enough to power the grid. And hydrogen has possibilities but who is going to operate and run it?

The oil companies have the skills, expertise and patents.

If BCC were to dis-invest from all oil and gas companies I and other Council Tax payers and existing pensions would seek a judicial review or judicial redress against BCC the trusties and finical advisers on the following grounds.

The likes of BP and Shell are legal companies in the UK, they have a good track record of dividend payments, also in the next few years they and all the other oil majors will become the majority owners of all the wind turbines, PV, and hydro generation.

They are also investing in hydrogen and carbon capture. So dis-investing now would leave the pension fund not reviving future dividends.

Also any shortfall would fall on the Council Tax payers!! Dr McCarthy should be aware that almost all the plastics used in medicine (every syringe, medical tube etc) and many of the transfer mediums for vaccinations etc are all derived from oil!!

Currently there are no substitutes and none on the immediate horizon. Anyone who believes that the oil companies will all disappear is delude themselves.

Shell, BP, Exxon et al will still be trading for the next 100+ years.

The dis-investors should also look to see what happened when the big miners sold off their coal assets.

Have these mines shut down? NO they are now private companies held inside other private companies so the general public has no idea what they are doing and no access to any information.

Just consolidate accounts which tell you nothing.
