A MAN has been found guilty of coercive control after a woman was held down and kicked after trying to escape her home.
Gabriel Gabor of Constable Gardens, Edgware in London, was sentenced for one count of coercive control and two counts of assault at Aylesbury Crown Court.
The 22-year-old was found guilty by majority jury verdict but acquitted of one count of assault.
Police detectives launched an investigation when the victim tried to leave her home on multiple occasions in 2021 and 2022.
Gabor took her phone and locked her in the house.
The court heard how in January 2022, Gabor decided to hit and kick her and hold her down when she tried to leave the property.
Investigating officer, PC Aimee Stein, based at Aylesbury police station, said: “After a long period of dealing with this coercive control and assaults, the victim finally has some justice.
“The conviction and sentence of Gabriel Gabor serves as a reminder that we will take action against offenders.
“I would encourage anyone experiencing coercive behaviour to come forward and report it to us either online or by calling 101. We will listen and support you.”
Gabor was sentenced to a year and three months in prison on Thursday, August 18.
