A Rolls Royce driver who was caught speeding at over 100mph on the M40 had no driving licence or insurance.

Nasir Abbasi, aged 40, of Parsonage Lane, Farnham Royal, has been ordered to pay over £1,000 in fines and costs and has been banned from driving for four weeks for his offending.

At a hearing at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court today (Friday), Abbasi pleaded guilty to charges of speeding, driving without insurance, and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

The court heard from prosecutor Jacqueline Lyon how on January 30, on the M40 passing through Beaconsfield, Abbasi had passengers in the car when he hit speeds of up to 104mph.

Ms Lyons told the court that Abbasi had been serving a driving ban for previous offending, which expired on January 4.

Abbasi failed to apply for a new licence after serving the ban, meaning he was without a licence and had invalid car insurance when he was caught speeding on January 30.

After hearing the evidence, the magistrate said: “We have heard about the event where you were travelling in excess of 100mph on the motorway.

“We take such offending very seriously.”

Sentencing him, the justices ordered Abbasi pay a £484 fine for both the speeding and no insurance offences.

He was fined a further £161 for driving without a licence, and told to pay £198 costs, leaving him with a total bill of £1,327.

He was also disqualified from driving for 28 days.
