There was group confusion among residents after a technical error on the council website saw their street “removed” from the refuse collection database.

Residents on Chenies Avenue in Little Chalfont were left “furious” after their recycling bins were left ten days overdue before finally being collected.

Roberto Giorgi contacted the Bucks Free Press after residents on his street were having problems reporting the missed collection.

He said: “Residents have been trying to report the problem online but just get the message that we no longer qualify for refuse collection.

“I know that we are all facing cuts, but deleting us from the list of roads in Little Chalfont seems extreme.

“Meanwhile the bins are out on the verges, the piles of cardboard are making the whole place a mess and the vermin are having a field day."

The overflowing recycling bins were emptied on Friday, August 26 after Roberto spoke to the binmen who came to collect the general household rubbish.

Roberto praised the "great initiative" of the binmen who emptied the street's overflowing recycling rubbish into the general waste.

When asked if the street had been reinstated to the rota, Roberto answered: “That’ll be interesting we will see this Friday but I think we have been.”

His wife, Jane said: “We were very cross but we will wait and see what happens this week and see if we are actually reinstated on the rota and if were are not we will be back at square one again.”

Buckinghamshire Council has reassured residents on the street that they haven’t been removed from the system.

A Buckinghamshire council spokesman said: “We apologise to these residents for the delay picking up their bins, and we have arranged for collection.

“I’d like to reassure the residents that it's absolutely not the case that the street is missing off the system.

“If your bin has been missed for any reason, please report it within 24 hours using the form on our website.

“This 24-hour window is so we can pick up your bin as quickly as possible for you.”
