A prolific burglar who committed five thefts in eight days has been jailed.

Lee Westbury, 35, of Harrowden, Milton Keynes, was locked up for three years and nine months at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday 26 August.

Between June 2 and June 9 this year, Westbury committed a spree of five burglaries across the south west of Milton Keynes, in Beanhill, Ashland and Bletchely.

Officers in the Milton Keynes Priority Crime Team arrested Westbury on June 10 after they discovered a pattern linking all five of his crimes.

He was charged with three counts of burglary and one count of obstructing an officer in the execution of their duty. He pleaded guilty on all counts.

After working with Westbury, the officers were able to solve three other burglaries.

Detective Constable Matthew Hodgetts-Tate, based at Milton Keynes police station, said: “Thames Valley Police is committed to bringing burglars to justice as it is an incredibly invasive crime.

“The Priority Crime Team worked hard to investigate the burglaries and find the perpetrator, Westbury, as well as securing the vital evidence to seal the charges from the Crown Prosecution Service.

“Westbury’s sentencing will hopefully serve a lesson to others who seek to commit burglaries that we will investigate and look to put offenders before the courts.”
