As the days get shorter, these are the top five cosy cafes to add on your list to visit in Buckinghamshire.

While Christmas is still too far away to warrant a mention, the seasons for warmer jumpers, pumpkin spiced lattes and anything to make us feel ‘hygge’ is fast approaching.

Suggestions poured in across Buckinghamshire from readers for cafes to escape to with a book, meet family and friends or have a low-key coffee date at.

The shared fifth spot went to the not-for-profit Micklefield community café Hills Café and the arts café Crumbs Café in Wendover.

Fourth best cosy cafés are found in Hawridge, Chesham, and Bradenham, according to Bucks Free Press readers.

Chiltern Velo bike workshop in Hawridge, welcomes customers to “put up their feet” or bring their laptops for a calm work environment at their café.

Bradenham’s Red Lion Tearooms, which was also voted as the best place to have afternoon tea at, is worth a visit because of “the most amazing breakfast and friendly staff,” one reader said.

Top three place to visit is Front Room on Wycombe’s Castle Street, encouraging coffee fans to “come switch up your desk views and grab a coffee.”

The second most mentioned café is the family-run Bees Knees, a café and sandwich bar on 15 Pinions Road in High Wycombe.

Before becoming Bees Knees in 1996, the shop was a hair salon in the 1980s, and a general store in the 70s when the owners’ nan bought the shop.

Number one café to check out this autumn is Apple Orchard in the heart of West Wycombe village, a home wear and furniture shop with a secret café and garden with a changing selection of cakes
