FILM buffs have just two weeks to wait until High Wycombe's new 12-screen cinema opens.

The Bucks Free Press was given a peek inside the 2,500-seat Cineworld cinema, one of the leisure attractions at the town's new Eden shopping centre.

Workers are still busy kitting out the screens with seats and furnishings and putting the final touches to the four VIP boxes before the big opening on March 14.

Movie lovers will make their way to the cinema by taking an escalator from the ground floor next to Marks & Spencer directly to the second-floor open-plan box office.

After buying a ticket they will take another escalator to the glass fronted lobby area, which overlooks Abbey Way and the Tesco roundabout, where they can buy freshly popped popcorn or a scoop or two of ice-cream.

For those who have upgraded to a private box they will take another flight of stairs to a special VIP area.

Steve Wiener, CEO of Cineworld Cinemas, expects the boxes to be a big draw for customers.

He said: "They have their own private sound system so they can adjust the sound. They have their own control of the temperature and they have a telephone, which is linked into the bar and if people have booked the entire box they can order drinks into the box."

The cinema is offering reduced price tickets on Bargain Tuesdays' and on Saturday mornings kids can catch a flick for just £1 at Movies for Juniors' where special films will be screened.

Customers with mobile phone network Orange will also be able to buy two tickets for the price of one on Wednesdays.

Mr Wiener, who started Cineworld with his wife in July 1996, said High Wycombe's cinema would also cater for foreign film fans and Bollywood buffs.
