A VITAL service that helps shoppers with mobility problems get around Wycombe will be closed for part of next week as it moves into new premises in Eden.

Shopmobility, which has served the town for 14 years, will be completely shut on Tuesday and Wednesday.

But it will reopen on Thursday, at 9.30am from its new location. The service will then be run for seven days a week, instead of the present five, meaning more volunteers will be needed to help out.

David Griffin, manager of Shopmobility, explained that the new site would be better for everyone. He said: "We're currently in temporary premises on Tesco roof, which isn't ideal. We were in premises in Newlands Car Park for 14 years and when it had to be refurbished we went on top of a car park roof, living out of cardboard boxes. Business had dropped off, but hopefully now all our old customers will return."

It will now be sited on the ground floor.

Mr Griffin said service users should find the new site far easier to get access to. He said: "I'm looking forward to the new premises very much. Being on the ground floor, it will be so much easier to operate."
