A successful screenwriter from Buckinghamshire took a leap into the criminal underworld with the launch of his new crime thriller series.

Guy Fee from Amersham swapped the red carpet of Cannes to focus on writing The Traveller series, and it’s first book, named after the series, published this week.

Set on the idyllic Scottish Isle of Lewis, The Traveller features a career criminal, who falls in love with a safehouse landlady, while dodging an assassin known to be best in the business.

Mr Fee said: “Amersham is such a great place to live as a writer because it’s full of characters and the Chiltern countryside is perfect when you want to take a break and be inspired.”

“I’ve wanted to write a detective novel for a while now.”

The Glasgow- born screenwriter, whose credits include the independent film The Ghost Writer and upcoming psychological thriller The Fact Checker, has lived in Amersham for 20 years, developing TV show concepts for international production companies.

He wasn’t going to give up the movie life “jus yet.”

He added: “All writing is personal but books are about the mind of the writer. While I enjoy the freedom that gives me to explore different themes and subject matters, I love the collaborative process of making a movie alongside a talented director, producers, and, of course, cast and crew.”
