Fire engines were called from five different stations to tackle a blaze inside a flat in High Wycombe earlier today.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that one flat in Freer Crescent was affected by the fire with photographs showing the scale of damage to the building.

Everyone was evacuated from the block of flats and watched as firefighters tackled the blaze.

Crews managed to isolate the gas and electricity supplies to prevent the fire from spreading.

A statement from the fire service said: "Seven appliances and crews at the scene at the height of the fire, along with four officers. Appliances and crews attended from High Wycombe, Slough, Maidenhead, Gerrards Cross, Whitley Wood.

"Smoke was issuing from a four-storey block of flats when they arrived. The flats were evacuated. The firefighters used two sets of breathing apparatus, four hose reels, one safety jet, one covering jet and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

"The fire was in a second-floor flat and spread to affect the roof of the building. The building involved was made up of an underground car park, ground floor, first floor and second floor."
