A number of pubs in Buckinghamshire have confirmed they will open on the day of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.

Next Monday (September 19) has been declared a Bank Holiday as the service is to be held at Westminster Abbey.

On the day of the state funeral, schools and offices are expected to close as the nation pays tribute to its longest-serving monarch.

However, many local pubs have said they will open in the morning to allow locals to watch the service and raise a glass to the late Queen.

Here is what some local pubs announced on social media:

The Crown, Chinnor posted: "We will be opening at 10am on Monday September 19, and our doors will be open for anyone that wishes to join us to watch the service for Queen Elizabeth II which is scheduled to start around 11am.

"The service will be shown across all our screens with sound.

"We have spoken with all staff and many have offered to continue to work, so we are in this position to be able to open, and welcome you all to be here with us.

"After the service, we will be putting on a complimentary buffet, as we all raise a glass to her majesty and remember and talk about all the amazing things she has done for this country."

The Plough at Cadsden posted: "After the sad news regarding the passing of the Queen and the announcement of her funeral on 19th September we have made the decision to Close during the day, we will reopen at 5pm to allow people to join us to raise a glass to our dear Queen.

The Golden Cross Pub Saunderton posted: "9am, Our doors and bar will be open, and the kettle will be on to welcome those that would like to watch the events of this momentous occasion with us here at The Golden Cross.

The Rose And Crown, Wingrave posted: "As you will be aware we have come into the pub under an extremely short period of time, with everything that goes on behind the scenes to achieve this, we don't feel as though keeping closed would show any disrespect.

"We feel a responsibility to our new staff in these challenging times, also those who have already booked in with us.

"After the last few years we feel that we can't delay the opening further.

"We will speak with all of the staff and see if there is anyone who doesn't wish to work and they will be given the option to take this time off."

A spokesperson for Stonegate Group, which runs more than 4,500 pubs around the country, said: "The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is a momentous and sombre occasion.

"We send our deepest condolences to the Royal Family at this sad time.

"Our managed pubs, bars and venues remain open and, where possible, will show the funeral on Monday 19 September to honour her life and service."

Green King, which owns some 2,700 pubs, restaurants and hotels, also confirmed they will be open as usual to allow "communities to gather to mourn and reflect together on the life of the Queen".
