LANCASHIRE lad Frank Barnes is appealing to Free Press readers to help him realise a schoolboy dream.
Mr Barnes, 59, who now lives in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, fondly remembers the time he spent as a boarder at Horsley Green School, in Stokenchurch, between 1956 and 1957.
"Many of us were sent down to Buckinghamshire for our schooling as where we lived was such an industrial area," said Mr Barnes.
"Arriving in a place like Wycombe was heaven. I had heard stories about southern people being cold and unfriendly but the kindness of the people in Wycombe has stayed with me ever since."
As a keen footballer the young Frank took to the game and eventually landed himself a place on the High Wycombe Schools' football team in 1956.
"I'll never forget the day the teacher told me I was awarded my badge," said Mr Barnes. "I was elated but then I never received it."
Mr Barnes returned home to Lancashire in 1957 and despite many attempts, failed to get his badge.
Mr Barnes would like anyone who knows how he may get his badge to contact him.
"It would mean so much to me," he said.
