A High Wycombe resident man was given the Lifetime Achievement Award at the fifth annual British Ex-Forces in Business Awards.

Esmon  George received the award at a ceremony that took place on September 8 in the famed great room of Grosvenor House, Park Lane.

Over 1,000 business and military leaders celebrated 20 winners from over 700 nominations, all of which demonstrated the exceptional value that military veterans add to employers and the wider economy in their second careers.

Es, to his friends, joined the RAF as an air traffic control assistant and went on to commission as a logistics officer.

He has been involved in a range of charity work as well as being part of the behind-the-scenes team delivering the annual Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford in Gloucestershire.

Es said he finds the award, "still a bit humbling, especially at this moment in time."

An award spokesperson said: “The judges applauded Esmon for his resilience and lifetime of commitment to Queen and country across a number of roles, as well as his selfless commitment to volunteering throughout his career.

"He has been a high achiever throughout his working life and gained international respect as a shining example of UK ex-forces transferable skills, whilst continuing to give his own time to support the RAF Charitable Trust through the Royal International Air Tattoo.”

Es now works at the RAF headquarters just outside Walter's Ash as part of a team delivering programmes to enhance the RAF and defence's capability in the air mobility arena and the new fleet of 'business jets' used by the Royal family and politicians to travel across the UK and around the world.
