Two Scouts from Buckinghamshire helped mourners paid their respects to the Her late Majesty, Queen Elizbeth II by attending the lying-in-state process.
Izzie Inga from Amersham and Ben Pease from High Wycombe visited Westminster Palace ahead of the monarch’s funeral on Monday, September 19, with the latter describing the occasion as a ‘once in a lifetime’ moment.
Two duo were volunteers along with more than 100 Scouts aged between 18 and 25 from across the UK, as they assisted grievers who purchased flowers and cards for the Royal Family.
In all, nearly 40m people watched the funeral in the UK.
Izzie said: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be here to volunteer to help people pay their respect to Her Majesty the Queen. She embodies the vision of Scouting and has given so much to this country.
“My best Scout experience was going to the World Scout Jamboree in North America in 2019, which made me more confident and I made some really great friends from across the world.
Ben added: “It’s an honour and privilege to represent Buckinghamshire and Scouts, and to do my bit for the Queen who has dedicated her life to service.
“My best Scout experience was going to the World Scout Jamboree in North America, where I was able to meet people from across the world and learnt about their different cultures.”
