An upset driver called for better security after thieves targeted her car twice at the same Buckinghamshire station car park.

Natalie Wood from Penn was left paying hundreds of pounds in repairs after her car was damaged by catalytic converter thieves at Beaconsfield train station car park.

Following the incidents in August, and again last week (September 27) at the Penn Road car park, she’s had to fork out hundreds of pounds in repairs to have her VW Beetle’s parts replaced.

Ms Wood said: “I feel so helpless, because there’s nothing they can do about it. The security didn’t really have a lot to say, and apparently, they can’t get security all day at the station even though you pay around £9 a day for that, and from 12 to six there’s no security.

“It’s bad because it’s happened twice and it’s costing a fortune, and I’m a bit stuck because I need to get to London.

“I’m really upset about it.”

Previously her car was damaged in August, when the thieves took her catalytic converter – leaving her with around £300 to pay to replace it.

Drivers should be able to trust the station car park, she said.

Ms Wood has to get to London twice a week for work, and taking the bus isn’t an option because of the times.

She said: “For Volkswagen Beetle, the catalytic converter is quite hard to find, so we have to source it from eBay or scrapyard type place, and once we’ve got it go to the garage to get it all installed.”

Last week her car was parked at the station around 5.50am as her partner took an early train to get to the City.

“There’s definitely security until 12 [noon], so it would have happened likely, although I can’t guarantee, between 12 and 6pm.”

The thieves succeeded taking the catalytic converter again despite the car being reversed against the fence to make it harder to access the bottom of the car and “it’s two spaces down from the disabled bays, where the security hut is.

“It’s crazy.”

Once the latest repairs are done, she will have spent around £700 on damage caused by thieves.

She added: “I’m not going to pay £9 to have my car vandalised again.

“I feel nervous about it.

“They need to get security all day, a full-time staff member, because this is going to be a repeated crime over and over again.”

British Transport Police and APCOA Parking were contacted for a comment.
