AN ARTISAN food market announced its next market dates in Buckinghamshire following “unbelievable” success.

Amersham Old Town and Great Missenden artisan food markets have attracted thousands of visitors to browse their selection of delicacies, drinks and crafts from local traders since their launch in the spring and summer.

Thanks to the market buzz, local businesses on the high street of Amersham and Missenden reported busier than usual days during the market Sundays, which was “kind of the premise of the market, to bolster trade,” the organiser Cooper’s Markets owner Rob said.

He said: “The Amersham market has gone from strength to strength.

“Last month we had the same turnout as the first ever market – it was unbelievable the amount of people that came.

“It was day before the Queen’s funeral, and it was still a lot of people who came out.”

A Missenden market on October 2 was “on par with the success of the Old Amersham one,” he said.

Organisers were “blown away by the amount of people that turned up.”

He said: “We’ve got a real feeling that people are looking somewhere they can go with sense of community and fresh produce from local businesses.

“It was really good!”

Traders will soon stock mulled wine and cider, and the next Great Missenden market will have hot food traders after popular demand.

“It’s local producers, local businesses trying to help revitalise the high street.

“A lot of the feedback was how lovely it was to have a buzz in the village again, something going on in Missenden on a Sunday.”

The Amersham Old Town market welcomes all foodies again on Sunday October 16, while the next Great Missenden artisan market is on November 6.
