THIS is the shocking moment a thief was caught in the act stealing Amazon parcels from a pensioner.

Resident Colin Boughton-Smith's Tapo CCTV camera caught the unknown visitor walking up the pathway to his home in Burnham village on Sunday, October 9.

The thief can be seen sneaking up to the property in Poyle Lane, snatching the parcels from the porch and then fleeing the scene when the security light turns on.

The 73-year-old was out at the time when the theft took place but said his wife was alerted on her phone.

The footage was widely shared on Facebook and was provided to police by the resident.

It's not the first time the resident has been subject to thefts.

Colin spoke to the BFP and said: "I've had a few break-ins over the years so have installed this cheap camera and would advise everyone to get one to prevent thieves around the area. It's only £19.99 on Amazon and the more people are aware of them the more difficult it will get for thieves.

"I'm not sure why it's happening, perhaps a sign of the times we're in as people are desperate as we're coming up to Christmas. It's like water off a duck's back as I've had a lot of break-ins over the years. Down in Taplow a four wheeled boat was nicked and last time they broke in and got absolutely nothing.

"Another time they smashed the window and used my wifes pillowcase to put stuff into it. She was more gutted the insurance company wouldn't give a matching set."

On this occasion, the thief stole some solar powered fairy lights and a USB charger.

A spokesman from Thames Valley Police said: “Following an investigation, the report was filed pending further information coming to light.

“Anyone with further information about the incident should call 101 or make a report on our website, quoting reference number 43220454902.”
