We tried out a new family-owned cafe that recently opened in Marlow after spending almost 20 years in Bourne End.

Chives cafe is based in Globe Business Park on Fieldhouse Way and is run by husband and wife duo Graham and Vicky Everitt, who have a history of working in the hospitality industry.

The cafe serves freshly made-to-order baguettes, wraps and sandwiches with a variety of fillings as well as serving bottomless coffee and cakes along with a breakfast menu.

Also on offer are jacket potatoes with different fillings or a choice of homemade soups.

For your baguette, sandwich or wrap there is an option to create your own, where you can choose which fillings you want from the counter which is packed with different choices.

The cafe has also put together a list of ‘Chives Choices’ which include 13 various combinations.

In the filling counter, there are meats such as chicken, bacon, ham, beef, and turkey as well as tuna, salmon and prawn.

You can also choose from a range of cheeses and sauces as well as the usual salad options to incorporate into your baguette, sandwich or wrap.

I went for chicken, bacon avocado with mayo in a white baguette together with a mocha to drink.

The baguette was put together in front of me with all the ingredients being fresh, and you could certainly tell.

Overall it was delicious as it was filled with a generous amount of filling and was seasoned perfectly.

The coffee was also really good with a highlight being that if you sit in the cafe you are entitled to unlimited refills.

I got mine to go and the baguette was packaged well in Chives' own branded material which felt of good quality.

As well as providing cafe food, Chives can cater for up to 500 people for outside events, private dining and prepare hog roasts too.

Graham gave up his coorporate job in sales 10 years ago when he bought Chives in Bourne End.

He revealed that the footfall in Globe Park is an improvement to what the cafe saw at its former location.

Graham said: "It's been very popular and busy with lots of people walking in already. In Bourne End we saw maybe 80 to 100 a day, now we're seeing 200 to 250 so the footfall is better.

"Marlow is a much better location and the parking is better too.

"We're open Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm serving bottomless coffee, fresh homemade cakes and sandwiches with a counter full of ingredients. Our motto is you can have whatever weird filling as unique as you are."

There's also free wifi which makes it an ideal spot for workers in nearby offices or people who work from home.

The café recently received a 5 out of 5 food hygiene rating being described as “very good”.
