Planners withdraw a scheme to erect a temporary ice rink at Wendover Road, Stoke Mandeville (22/03095/APP).

Not to worry, the existing part of the glasshouse at Chiltern View Nursery will still see ice skaters this year over the Christmas period despite the developer withdrawing the scheme without an explanation.

It will happen from November 17.

About 100 people will skate the 30m x 17.5m ice rink at any one time. A refreshment bar is also included in the plans.

Those using the ice rink will use the existing garden centre car park which has 153 car parking spaces, which will be adequate to serve both the ice rink and the adjoining garden centre activities.

It will provide financial support to over 10 charities, such as Florence Nightingale Hospice.

Nine pitches for gypsy travellers will be placed at Mansion Lane, Iver (PL/22/1496/FA).

The Mansion Lane Caravan Park will add more pitches to meet the recognised need, and personal need, for such facilities in the area to facilitate gypsy life.

The proposal incorporates one mobile home, one touring caravan, and one dayroom per pitch.

The dayrooms are designed to be in keeping with the existing buildings that are nearby and will provide facilities that enable the occupants of the caravans to minimise the recognised hazards associated with cooking and fire in the close confines of caravans and provide facilities for washing and bathing and the maintenance of basic hygiene, constructed out of brick as in keeping with the surrounding developments in the area.

Planning officers agreed for the scheme to go ahead.

Plans for 11 homes were submitted at Main Road, Lacey Green (22/07470/FUL).

Part of Grymsdyke Farm’s land could be redeveloped into two two-beds, six three-beds, and three four-bedroom houses – 45 per cent of which could be affordable homes.

Despite the land technically being in the greenbelt, the site has some buildings already erected, which would be demolished if planning officers approve the scheme.

The homes are arranged in a courtyard form as shown on the submitted site layout above. This arrangement replicates a traditional farmyard complex and in doing so seeks to reflect the former agricultural use of the site.

Access to the site is gained from Main Road, via a shared drive that serves several homes and a single office building.

While a precise number of car parking spaces is not available, the developer states it is ‘compliant’ with the required standards.
