In the article on the main Nostalgia page about the early history of Crown House School I have mentioned that Unity Hall, which was located in Paul’s Row near the Guildhall in Wycombe town centre, was where the school was first located after it left the founder’s home in Crown Lane.
Before it was demolished in the slum clearance programme after WWII, Unity Hall was a popular venue for all sorts of events in the town, from horticultural shows to dances.
Being above the Co-operative Society shop it was often used by them to host their functions. It was even a night called Pete’s Club for a short period.
