PLANS have been revealed for the transformation of Wendover Library thanks to a £473,000 grant.

This Saturday (October 22), residents have the chance to see plans for the makeover of Wendover Library into a community hub for the town.

The funding has been secured by Buckinghamshire Council designed to make the library into a better suited facility for the community.

Books and reading will remain "absolutely central to the new library" but the vision is to reinforce the library as the focal point for the community by promoting it as the main point of access to local information and services in Wendover.

Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure Clive Harriss said: “This is a very exciting opportunity to expand an important community asset for Wendover and build on the library’s existing work supporting culture and learning in the town.

“I’m very pleased that the Council have been able to top up the generous grant from Arts Council England through our capital funding programme to help the library achieve its aspirations to become a welcoming and attractive space that can act as a hub for information, activities and local services in the town.”

The library is set to be expanded, creating a new flexible meeting space and allowing partnerships with new organisations to be developed.

One priority will be to support economic regeneration in Wendover by developing tourist and visitor information and by celebrating Wendover as the gateway to the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The public exhibition of the plans for the library will take place at the library itself between 10am and 4pm.
