Burglars who have blighted householders across the Thames Valley have been jailed for prison terms totalling 43 years, in under ten months this year.
Thames Valley Police’s dedicated burglary teams have reached the impressive milestone in custodial results following targeted investigations resulting in the court convictions.
The total for Thames Valley is more than 43 years and three monthssince the start of 2022.
Once burglars are jailed for their crimes, the force often hopes how it will "serve as a lesson to others who seek to commit crimes of this nature that we will investigate and look to put offenders before the courts.”
Here are some of the prolific burglars jailed this year for their crimes
Richard Bacon
Richard Bacon, of Nettlecombe in Bracknell, pleaded guilty to a string of offences including burglary at Guildford Crown Court on Monday, August 22.
The 50 year old admitted breaking into a home in Rectory Close, on March 4. He climbed through the window and while inside stole £120 cash from the pocket of a pair of jeans.
Jamie Barrett
Drug-addict Jamie Barrett, of Jocks Lane, Bracknell, has more than 60 convictions for theft and dishonesty offences.
The serial shoplifter was locked up after stealing a teenager’s Christmas present, taking Percy Pigs and leading police on a dangerous chase at top speeds.
He was sentenced on Thursday, July 28.
Sam Edwards
A burglar who set up a business telling homeowners how to protect their home from burglars is back in prison... for burglary.
The 28-year-old launched 'Sam's Burglary Prevention' in 2019 giving locals tips on how to avoid being targeted by thieves - like his former self.
He stole "high value" jewellery from Berkshire homes during a seven-month crime spree between September 2021 and March 2022.
Ross Kirton
33-year-old Ross Kirton, was one of four masked men who broke into a family home near Southcote.
He was jailed in April to 12 years for making a family feel imprisoned in their own home.
Jasmine Junor
A 29 year-old woman has been jailed for four years after attacking and robbing an elderly woman in her own home.
Junor threatened to stab the 90-year-old woman in her home in Crowthorne Road, Bracknell and after seeing a shiny object in her hand, she grabbed the victim’s handbag and escaped with £85 in cash.
Lee Westbury
Lee Westbury, 35, of Harrowden, Milton Keynes, was locked up for three years and nine months at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday 26 August.
The prolific burglar committed five thefts in eight days.
Gordon McKay
A failed High Wycombe burglar was jailed after leaving a spade covered in DNA at the crime scene.
Gordon McKay, 40, of Heath End Road, was jailed for five months at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 24 February.
The bungling burglar is well known at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court and has made many appearances for past offences.
In April last year, McKay tried to break into a house in Flackwell Heath when he was foiled by a “nosy” neighbour who spotted him acting suspiciously.
Carl Torano
Carl Torano, 38, of Wahddon Way, Bletchley, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated burglary at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday, June 17.
The thug held a man at knifepoint in his own home in the middle of the night and was jailed for 12 years.
