A HIGH Wycombe pub has received a new food hygiene rating.

The Crown Radnage has been told it needs to make major improvements by food hygiene inspectors.

The pub in City Road has been rated as a one, meaning "major improvement necessary".

Food safety and hygiene officers visited the pub for their most recent inspection on September 15 this year.

They were told improvement was "necessary" in the areas of hygienic food handling (including preparation, cooking, reheating, cooling and storage).

The cleanliness and condition of the facilities and the building were generally satisfactory.

Their management of food safety - the checks in place to ensure the food they are serving is safe to eat and evidence that staff know about food safety - was rated as needing major improvement.

Overall, inspectors gave it a one rating out of five.

The Crown Radnage sells traditional British staples from fish and triple cooked chips and burgers to stone baked pizzas.

It has largely good reviews on Google, with an overall score of 4.5 out of five. One person, reviewing the food a three weeks ago, called it a "little gem".

Meanwhile, a reviewer shared their disappointment a week ago at having to "wait an hour and three quarters" for their food to be served.

A reminder of what the numbers mean:

0 means that urgent improvement is necessary

1 means that major improvements are necessary

2 means that improvements are necessary

3 means that the business was found to be generally satisfactory

4 means that the business was rated as good on assessment

5 means that the business was seen as very good
