A MOTORIST says he has been scammed after receiving a £100 parking fine despite the ticket machine displaying an 'out of order' notice.

The car park at Wycombe Rye Lido in Bassetsbury Lane, has been a contentious spot for many drivers who have received fines when they have believed they should not have done so.

James Gosnold visited the car park on August 27 and was unable to pay for a ticket, claiming both ticket machines were out of order that Saturday.

He was also unable to use his phone to pay for a ticket via the Phone and Pay app.

As such, he received a £100 fine in the post and a threatening letter warning if he does not pay then it could lead to potential court proceedings.

He told the BFP: "Customers unable to use their phone to park as an alternative - or uncomfortable using phones and apps (or had no data on the phone) are being issued parking tickets and threatened with action debt collection agencies in a scandalous escalation of a problem they have caused themselves by poor maintenance of the machines.

"Fusion Lifestyle manage the car park and potential customers may wish to think twice about visiting if that is an acceptable standard of practice for the company."

Mr Gosnold also claims he's the 'third person who received a parking ticket that day in the same place.'

"A friend of ours was also fined on the same day, I understand she paid the fine because she didn't want the stress. So they've clearly had a field day with this, I'd like to know how many tickets they've issued due to this", he said.

"We followed the appeals procedure with photographic evidence and stating the same case I reported to yourselves, predictably it was rejected out of hand. "

Fusion Lifestyle were contacted for a comment.
