A STRUGGLING venue used for holding business events for more than 50 years has been listed for sale.

The Lane End Conference Centre in Church Road, High Wycombe, is being marketed by commercial property estate agent Knightsbridge Commercial Business Sales, but a price hasn't been revealed yet.

Opening in 1969 as the HTS Management Training Centre, the 26 acre estate which enjoys a colourful history dating back to 1864.

The venue originally comprised of two residential buildings – Wycombe Hall and Wycombe Court – which were built where Cowasjee Jehangir Hall once stood.

In 1970 the venue was selected to host some of the world’s largest blue-chip companies for their management training courses. These included Mckinsey & Company and the Bank of America.

The purpose-built conference venue was one of the first of its kind. The objective was to offer dedicated meeting facilities conducive to learning and development with the highest standard of equipment, catering and above all dedicated training rooms.

After more than 50 years operating as a conferences & training venue, the holding company HTS has decided to sell the site, according to its website online.

They wrote: "Due to the combination of the Covid pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and the impact of rising energy, staff and food costs, as well as the looming recession, the future outlook has been rendered bleak.

"Rather than limp along and suffer a long and painful decline, the Company has made the proactive and necessary decision to sell the site."

Operations Director Mike Gough said: “I am so proud of our achievements at Lane End and I am sad to say goodbye to so many greatly respected clients and suppliers and, of course, our brilliant team of loyal, warm, hard-working and capable staff.”
