It is expected to create to have created around 40 new jobs for the local community as the company has stopped advertising vacancies on their site.

Signs have been placed on the former-Waitrose building on Chapel Street which can be seen driving in and out of Marlow.

Waitrose left the site in October 2019, with the building almost taken over by a nursery that had its proposals accepted in February 2020.

However, after the nursery’s plans fell through, Lidl acquired the building and is readying to open.

The German food retailer has increased sales area following an extension at the back of the building creating a new entrance on Liston Road.

They have also built on-site bicycle parking in the Liston Road car park owned by Buckinghamshire Council.

Lidl hopes to “improve local shopping choice” alongside a design that is an “appropriate addition to the local town”.

A spokesperson added: "Once opened, the new store will deliver Lidl’s high-quality and affordable produce to the local area."

Local residents have continued to express their reaction to the new supermarket which will open in under a fortnight's time.

Catherine Holder wrote "can’t wait" on Facebook as Jenny Walker added "brilliant me too" whilst Karen Fleck said "can't wait either, great"

Trevor Lovett raised one concern around the council-owned car park saying "hoping there will be enough parking for people not wanting to use Lidl".
