Christmas in the Park has provided more details on their upcoming event in Marlow.

The event will run from December 9 to 21 at Higginson Park and feature a light trail, a Christmas market, a winter village as well as a special offering from Tom Kerridge.

The 12-day celebration will also have a number of additional ticketed events taking place on selected dates

Next to Higginson Park, there will be an indoor cinema showing classic Christmas movies including It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf, The Muppets Christmas Carol and Love Actually with screenings taking place from December 15 to 18.

There will also be family pantomime shows on December 19 and 20 with panto classic Dick Whittington taking to the stage for three performances a day.

Aladdin will also be on stage for three shows on December 21.

Event organisers, Brand Events, are also the people behind the Marlow Comedy Weekender and the annual Pub in the Park festival.

Managing Director, Miranda Martin, says of the festival: “We are thrilled to reveal the full range of experiences on offer and our programme of events which will give people a fantastic new way to celebrate the festive season with their friends and family this December in the beautiful setting of Marlow.

“Christmas in the Park has been made possible with the support of Buckinghamshire Council and Marlow Town Council, who have been very supportive of the staging of the event for the whole town and surrounding area.”

An illuminating light trail featuring festive-themed installations will be the centrepiece and will be approximately 800m long and take an estimated 30 minutes to walk.

Visitors will enter via the ‘Mistletoe Market’ – a Christmas market selling gifts and treats such as hot chocolate.

Mid-way through the trail, visitors will encounter the ‘Winter Village’, where there will be firepits, pop-up bars and festive food from a selection of gourmet street food trucks.

There will also be a mini fairground including a Ferris wheel with attractions costing between £3-£5 per person.

As guests journey through the woods, they can visit the 'Elves Workshop', where children can help the band of elves from the National Elf Service with their preparations for the big day.

Between 3:00pm and 11:00pm on the days of the event, a large area of Higginson Park will only be available to event ticket holders.

During these times, members of the public will still have access to the children’s play park, Resolute Cafe and the park’s public toilets from the Pound Lane and High Street entrances.

The Court Garden Cafe, the cricket club, the skatepark and the surrounding parkland will also be accessible via Pound Lane car park and Lower Pound Lane.

The waterfront and Thames Path will not be accessible during these times.

Tickets to the main event start from £20 for adults and £12 for children, with free entry for 0-2-year-olds.

Tickets go on general sale at midday on Wednesday, November 2.
