A dog was hit by a car in Gerrards Cross as it ran onto the road after being scared of fireworks going off in the area.
Police officers came across the dog on the A40 who was hiding underneath the car after the collision on Saturday, November 5.
The officers took the dog to the vet for treatment whilst they located its owner.
The dog is now "safe and well" and has returned home.
A Thames Valley Police social media post said: "It’s not just anti-social behaviour and firework displays the South Buckinghamshire NHPT have been policing tonight.
"This poor dog scared by the fireworks ran out and was hit by a car on the A40 Gerrards cross.
"The NHPT came across the incident and with the help of members of public got the dog out from under the car and safely in the police vehicle.
"Officers took it to the local vet, where she got the treatment it needed before we located its owner.
"She is now safe and well back home."
