Chesham's annual Christmas Lights Switch On will take place on Friday, November 25.

Based on the town’s high street, local performers, market stalls, fairground rides, and late-night shopping will all be available on the day.

The lights will be turned on at around 6pm near the Sainsbury’s store, with the time being brought forward.

This is due to England’s second World Cup fixture taking place that evening, with the Three Lions in action against the USA.

The match will kick off at 7pm.

Town Mayor, Cllr Majid Ditta, said: “This event is a great tradition in Chesham and I’m excited to be switching on the lights with the help of the cast of Sleeping Beauty, this year’s pantomime.

"There’s no need for footie fans to feel torn about coming out on the night as we are turning on the lights earlier than normal.

"There will be plenty of time to head to the High Street pubs to watch the England vs USA World Cup match.

“But, if you really can’t make it, the Chiltern Voice team will be providing some live programming from the event, online, on your smart speaker, and on 107.4fm.

“None of this would be possible without our wonderful sponsors, Flying Start Tuition and Lennon’s Solicitors, or our supporters, the Chiltern Chamber and the Rotary Club of Chesham.”
