A charity football match involving a team from Buckinghamshire will take place this Saturday.

Aylesbury Vale Dynamos, who play their home matches at Haywood Way within the town, will take on Hertfordshire-based Leverstock Green in a Spartan South Midlands League fixture.

Proceeds from the match will go towards Kit Aid, a charity that provides football shirts to people who live in impoverished areas of Africa.

The match will be for the ‘Kit Aid Supporters Cup’ - the first of its kind.

Kit Aid’s founder, Derrick Williams, said: “This is a new event and a trial to see how it works out.

“If it is a success, we can expand things next year to include more Kit Aid supporting Clubs.

“Both clubs have been supportive of Kit Aid and a former Aylesbury Vale Dynamos manager is a friend from my time at the Watford Community Trust.

“He suggested making the game into a Kit Aid event and both clubs have agreed.

“We have bought a lovely cup to present to the winners on November 12.”

This will be the second time this year that Kit Aid would have teamed up with Aylesbury Vale Dynamos to raise those in need of new football shirts.

In March this year, Dynamos’ home fixture against Buckinghamshire neighbours Risborough Rangers saw fans from all over the country attend to support the charity.

This was because those in attendance were able to donate unwanted clothing in lieu of payment, with the notion resulting in Dynamos’ highest attended home match of the season (220).

All the football shirts that were given in were sent to Africa, whilst nonsporting related items were given those stranded in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion of the country in Russia.

Additionally, more than £1,100 was raised for the charity after the Bucks Free Press organised an auction of old/retro Wycombe Wanderers shirts that were donated to the cause.

Taking place at Leverstock’s Pancake Lane stadium, Derrick added: “If you are within travelling distance we would love to see you there.

“Leverstock Green is just outside Hemel Hempstead and very close to the M1, Junction 8.

“It is a lovely club with a clubhouse and free parking.”

Tickets for the game are £8, but this will be reduced for anyone of a certain age and juniors.
