The celebrity lighting up High Wycombe town centre this Christmas has been revealed.

Vernon Kay, best known for presenting Family Fortunes and appeariing the I'm A Celeb jungle, will be turning on the Christmas lights in High Wycombe on Thursday, November 17.

Families will get to see the cast of The Wycombe Swan’s ‘Cinderella’ Pantomime, including Vernon Kay, who is also hosting meet and greets with The Snowman & Snowdog throughout the day at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm.

The Christmas light switch-on event kicks off from 3pm with live performances on the High Street stage, including Glee Club Choir and Castle Street Dancers.

There will be a market filled with different food trucks and more than 25 Christmas gift stalls.

There will be festive freebies, entertainmen and an appearance from Father Christmas, courtesy of Wycombe Santa.

A ‘Cinderella Parade’ will take place at 5.30pm led by the town's very own Pumpkin Carriage. It will be departing from The Swan Theatre, making its way down the High Street.

The parade will feature more than 100 ‘Cinderellas & Prince Charmings’ from Holmer Green First School, Marsh Infant School & West Wycombe School and the procession will be intercepted by Wycombe Sound.

Meanwhile in Frogmoor, the main stage will be getting in the Christmas swing of things from 5pm, with performances from eight local dance, music and drama groups, including Jackie Palmer Stage School, Stagecoach, The Blend Choir, Castle Street Dancers  and Swan Cheer Squad.

The switch-on event starts at 6.45pm in Frogmoor with Cinderella’s very own ‘Dandini’ Vernon Kay, who’ll be flicking the switch with The Snowman & Snowdog, High Wycombe’s Mayor Cllr Arif Hussain and Chairman of Buckinghamshire Council Dev Dhillon.

The town’s lights will officially be lit with a final performances on the Frogmoor Stage until 7.30pm. 

The event is being organised by High Wycombe BidCo.
