An annual Christmas Festival and light switch-on will kick of seasonal celebrations in the Chilterns.

This year’s Amersham Christmas Festival boasts activities and entertainment that will light up Sycamore Road High Street on December 3.

Visitors can enjoy indoor and street markets with more than 60 stalls, free Santa’s Grotto, live music and radio broadcast by Chiltern Voice, children’s funfair, food and drink, and a big raffle before Channel 4's Taskmaster creator Alex Horne will switch on the Christmas lights.

Chair of the Amersham Action Group Jane Barnes said: “2021 Amersham Christmas Festival was a great event, it was so good to see people enjoying themselves after Covid.

“This year’s event promises to be even bigger and better, our best ever, and we look forward to welcoming people to the town on Saturday December 3 to have a great festive fun day.“

All proceeds from the much-loved community festival support Chiltern Foodbank and Chiltern Toy Bank.

Many local businesses donated raffle prizes, toys, printing posters, storage, parking, and musical entertainment to make the event possible.

The organisers thanked the title sponsor, Amersham- based toy shop The Entertainer, and support from Specsavers, Jewson, J Brown Funeral Services and Lennons Solicitors as partner sponsors.

Jane added: “Our thanks to so many people, organisations and businesses who have helped make this event happen.

“A real community effort. Thank you.”

The festival runs from 10am until 5pm. Alex Horne will draw the raffle at 4.15pm before Christmas light switch-on at 4.30pm.
