A Non League team in Buckinghamshire have confirmed that they have sacked their assistant manager for allegedly spitting at an opposition player.

Aylesbury United, who are currently third from bottom in the Southern League Division One Central, confirmed the news on December 8 that their number two, Anton Jacob, had left the club – one day after their 2-2 draw away at Oxfordshire-based Kidlington descended into chaos.

In the final few moments against their Thames Valley neighbours, a melee was seen across both dugouts but the cause of the fracas was not known.

Kidlington’s Twitter account then revealed that a red card had been shown, with Jacob getting his marching orders for allegedly spitting at one of their players.

Following the incident, Aylesbury released a statement confirming the following: “Following an unsavoury incident towards the end of the game at Kidlington this evening [December 7], assistant manager Anton Jacob was shown a red card.

“His behaviour, which merited the disciplinary action, does not accord with the values of our football club and as a result he has been relieved of his duties and has left the club.”

The decision was not opposed by the club’s supporters.
