A riverside tapas restaurant has closed down after battling with the cost-of-living crisis and lack of bookings.

Corazón del Rîo - meaning 'heart of the river' – is temporarily closing at Bourne End Marina whilst the owner evaluates the business.

In an update from the owner, Katrina Turnbull, it was revealed that since September bookings at the restaurant “fell off a cliff”.

This combined with the cost-of-living crisis has forced the restaurant, which opened in June last year, to close its doors.

A post from the owner reads: “I would like to thank everyone for their support since opening, we wouldn’t have got this far without you.

“I have made some new very special friends here.

“I would also like to thank my staff, they have been amazing the last few months holding everything together for me.”

Prior to Corazón del Rîo, the restaurant had been largely empty after Coopers Riverlight closed down.

Ahead of its opening, the building had been given a stylish makeover, drawing inspiration from the River Thames it overlooks.

The building was overhauled and upgraded, with a new canopy and an extension of the outdoor decking area so visitors can sit outside and enjoy the Thames views all year round.

Google says the restaurant is only “temporarily closed” as the Bucks Free Press has reached out to the owner for the latest information.
