A teenager from Beaconsfield has won two prizes in this year’s RSPCA youth photo competition.

Thomas Eastbrook, 14, picked up first prize in the Portfolio Category, whilst also getting a consolation award in the Small Category.

His winning photo was taken after several visits to East Anglia, where he travelled to Havergate Island in Suffolk, and Holt, Norfolk, to find that perfect image of the country's wildlife in action.

Thomas said: I’m so happy that the judges liked my photos so much.

“The hare photos were taken over several visits to Havergate Island in Suffolk and Holt in Norfolk.

“Some of the photos were taken at a distance but some were taken at close-range.

“This required a lot of patience, as the hares needed to become comfortable with my presence.

“It also meant many hours of sitting and lying on the ground.”

Thomas’s images were regarded as some of the best out of the 4,000 entries that came through, with television presenter Chris Packham being one of the judges.

He said: “The RSPCA Young Photographer Awards is a real celebration of animals and the natural world and I love taking part every year.

“I hope everyone who entered continues with their love of animals and photography and they should all be proud of their achievements.”
